Hi, my name is Vincent R. Duke, and I’m a writer/author/novelist. Actually, this is my pen name, as my wife demanded that, if I insisted on being famous, I couldn’t have any weirdos (other than our current friends and family) stalking the house. I found that a pen name is also a great way to shake off creditors and ex-girlfriends.
My journey to becoming a writer/author/novelist is almost as bizarre as the stories I write. I didn’t set out to be a writer – I set out to find my fortunes in business. In my pursuit of financial success, I have been a restaurant manager, an accountant, and a software designer. Along the way, I have also been a baby photographer, air brush artist, bartender, disc jockey, electrician’s assistant, door-to-door salesman, and musician. I’ve had a couple of moderate successes in owning an accounting business and a medical software company, but I’ve also had many, many… let’s just call them “misadventures” as well.
It wasn’t until my eldest child began writing a novel that I decided to give it a try in my spare time. So, in January of 2017, I sat down at my computer, said a prayer, took a big sip of bourbon, and started writing whatever came into my rather twisted mind. I immediately realized that the text was flowing through me like the muddy water of the mighty Mississip’, and I found myself stealing any time I could to work on my novel and continue my passion.
That was more than three years and over half a million words ago.
One book became two – two books became three. I just couldn’t stop myself. I’m not sure I would have even tried.
The trilogy that flowed out of me became When Dancing with Demons – Books 1, 2, and 3.
At this point in my life, creating stories is all I want to do because I now see it is what I was made to do. There will be a lot more to come, and I pray that you will enjoy reading my creations as much as I love bringing them to you.
